Furniture for Your College Student

Is your son or daughter going to be starting college this Spring semester? Whether they are starting in the Spring or the Fall, many students will need furniture to furnish their dorm or apartment. They always say that college will be the best four years of your life. Why not make those four years as comfortable as possible with additional furniture pieces.Thankfully, when I was in college we were provided with dorm furniture. However, there was still room for extra pieces so we added some furniture too. On the other hand, I had a lot of friends that moved in to find no furniture provided. They had to furnish their own apartment and certainly had to keep a tight budget.

The furniture that you purchase for your college career probably isn't going to be your furniture forever. However, you do want to plan on using and/or keeping it until you purchase your first house! This is why you want to purchase good quality, long lasting furniture. We have plenty of affordable, great quality items that would be perfect for your college student.

Let’s take a look at some furniture pieces that almost every college student will need.

DESK & CHAIR: A desk with a large table top is essential for many reasons. A student can use the desk for educational purposes such as homework, studying or using their laptop. They can also use it for a table to eat on. The majority of college dorm rooms do not come with a kitchen table to eat on. If you are living in an apartment and do have a kitchen table, having a large table top desk can provide an eating area for snacks while you are completing your homework. A comfortable chair will support your back while you are studying and will be comfy to sit on.

FUTON: A futon can be used many different ways. Use it as a sofa to watch movies on, play video games or have a study group over. Fold it down and you can use it as your bed. Or if you already have a bed, use it as an extra one for friends and family that visit.

ACCENT CHAIR: Many people do their reading on their bed or at their desk. A reading chair will be much more comfortable to sit on. Kick back and relax while reading your book, studying for your exam or watching television. Most accent chairs are small enough to not take up too much room in your apartment or dorm room.
