“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.” - Anatole France
Here is a picture of Keith's new puppy! |
Today we sat down with one of our design consultants, Keith,
to talk about which sofa fabrics are best for pet owners. Many of our customers
have pets and think of their furry friends as family. Keith even fosters dogs
in his home! This is why we think it is super important to educate our
customers on which fabrics to choose when buying a sofa for their home, especially if they have pets.
Fabric is obviously super important to a sofa. It can take
some time for a customer to choose which fabric they would want on their sofa
but when it comes to pets, it complicates the decision. Our design consultants
are completely aware of pet owners and take that into consideration when they
help and guide you during your upholstery purchase. Many of our design consultants have pets so they have had a lot of experience with upholstery and animals! With their claws, fur, dirt
and odor, animals can be a challenge to even the best fabric.
Use this chart (featured on ebay.com) as a reference when deciding on which fabric to use! |
Sensitive
fabrics, such as satin, velvet and wool should be avoided if you have a pet in
your home.
Puppies are cute but they can do some damage to furniture! |
Pet-friendly fabrics include distressed leather, Ultrasuede,
microfiber and Crypton. Once you have chosen the fabric for your sofa, it is
now time to focus on the color. Pet owners should stay away from light colors.
We recommend that pet owners go with darker colors so that stains won’t show up
as dark.
If you have a rambunctious pet and you are worried about
your new sofa, a slipcover might be the right decision for you.
